Assaji puts the Fondmetal on pole ahead of (AI) Senna's Mclaren. The field threads through turn 1. The Williams' drivers get too close for comfort, resulting in lost time for Karl. Assaji is away cleanly at the front, and begins to slowly edge away from Tommy Christian and the chasing pack.
Carpman in 3rd place is clipped by (AI) Senna, and is spun around. He is subsequently hit by (AI) Mansell, dropping him to the back of the field. At the back of the field, Minheim and PVT Roger battle during the early stages of the race, the latter coming out on top. Karl is hit by (AI) Hakkinen, losing time and track position.
In a battle towards the front, Moss clips Christian at the final turn. He sportingly waits to let the Footwork driver recover, both losing places. Another spin for Christian puts him behind Waps' Ferrari. Waps is over eager in his attempts to pass Hakkinen, and loses the front wing of the Ferrari entering the complex.
Assaji led from (AI) Senna, but this spin dropped him back down to 2nd place. (AI) Hakkinen and Moss battle wheel to wheel. Karl comes in to the pit for repairs, scattering cones in his haste.
There are many great battles throughout the field, including this four way midfield tussle. Waps comes back to pip Christian at the line to take the non-AI 2nd place, having lost the place at the last turn (inset) Assaji is the non-AI winner, placeing 2nd overall behind (AI) Senna.
